Poet Kathleen Housley is a sort of Dian Fossey of human language. In pursuit of its mysteries, she has gone out in language's dark, misty forest and lived among it like a conservation biologist, with her clipboard and binoculars. To our great benefit, Housley is a passionate, meticulous student. In her poems, one encounters a keen, sprightly intellect at play—but there is an unshakeable seriousness, too, a pure, clear, earnest desire for precision. Her thought moves in a graceful rhythm, quick and imaginative. The words themselves become live things, purring and clacking and chattering. Her vision of the world is capacious, tender, and wise, and full of a rich, humane curiosity. With acute, scientific exactness, her poems teach us a delight in the creation, in its multiplicity and surprise. A patient teacher, Housley leads us to the pleasure of the concrete and specific. Birds, animals, reptiles, humans: the poems offer a taxonomy of creation that is at once tender and wise, and a care for the life and nuance of speech that is both urgent and long-sighted. Like all the best poets, Housley is what Fossey might have called an “active conservationist” of the word. Besides being a poet, Housley is an independent writer and researcher with strong interdisciplinary knowledge, spanning American history, art, science, and theology. Her undergraduate degree is from Upsala College and her masters from Wesleyan University. Her biography The Letter Kills But the Spirit Gives Life: The Smiths (1993) was on the Smith sisters who were well-known nineteenth century abolitionists, suffragists, and Bible translators. The book won the Award of Merit from the Connecticut League of Historical Societies in 1994. Her second biography Emily Hall Tremaine: Collector on the Cusp (2001, University Press of New England) was a finalist for the Library of Congress/Connecticut Center of the Book Award in 2002. Join us next Saturday as we go over the Greek word Ekklesia and show how this single mistranslation, thanks in no small part by King James himself, forever changed how we would view the Church. There is so much here that it may be difficult to get into an hour. We will run a little longer if needed. THE NON-BIBLICAL WORD: CHURCH! Language confusion and much false teaching results from the use of the English word "church". That word should not be in the Scriptures. It does not translate the Greek word ekklesia. In truth, there is no "church" in God's word! The King James translators, on orders from King James himself, substituted the word "church" for a true translation of the Greek word. It is one of the greatest evils ever perpetuated on all who have put their trust in the translations of Holy Scripture! Let's look at the confusion or deception the word 'church' can cause. The word "church" was substituted for a correct translation of the Greek word ekklesia; and that anti-scriptural word has deceived millions of unknowing, often uncaring, people into actually believing that there really is a church in the Bible. It is a great deception; a horrible error. The English words assembly, congregation, or gathering are correct renderings of the Greek word. There is no justification whatever for the English word church being in the Scripture. Today we live in a religious world with many churches, of all brands, shades, grades, and character. They are all from men; not any one of them is from God. But churches are what the vast majority of religious people have based their hope of heaven upon, believing that faithfulness to their brand of Church is the way to please God. They "belong to the church," not to the Lord Jesus Christ! The hard fact is that there is no church in God's word!

Thats right my friend, "its not the devils fault...!" People have always blamed the devil or his little "imps" for everything bad, and every hurt and disappointments. Weve even accused him of stealing our joy, peace of mind as if he could use it or do something with it. Let me ask you a question: If he stole it, where in the heck did he stash it? What can he do with your joy, peace or anything that our Creator made specifically for you? From the Grammy Recording Artist to Emmy recipient all write and sing music that speak of struggles, fears, lack brought on by the devil. Folks have been in "spiritual warfar" for as long as I can remember. From the Christian Television Shows to the platforms of mega churches, sermon after sermon Pastors, Speakers and Teachers all preach to a people who have lost their way and blame satan. As they say "in the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man rules! Today, I need to reinterate again that "the devil" is not responsible for this worlds poverty, pain, hate, or destructions. Who is? Mankind. We are. How? Because nobody studied the Word of YaHoVaH from the pure language of Hebrew. Even if they cant fluently read Hebrew there are tools to translate it from Hebrew to English without going through Latin, Greek, and a zillion translators/commentaries who are off track themselves. We love direct sales, cutting the middle man out to save time and money to buy house, cars and stuff. The time has come that you have to do the same. Youve got to become responsible for your own soul.
